The Tasmanian Certificate of Education (TCE) is Tasmania's senior secondary qualification, issued by TASC. It is awarded to students who meet the participation, achievement, and Everyday Adult Standards requirements, accumulating a minimum of 120 credit points.
What are the Everyday Adult Standards?
The three Everyday Adult Standards are Reading, Writing & Communication in English, Mathematics, and Use of Computers & the Internet. Students must demonstrate all three to achieve the TCE.
How do TASC Levels affect my ATAR?
TASC courses are rated from Preliminary to Level 4. Level 3 and Level 4 courses are the most rigorous and contribute to your Tertiary Entrance (TE) Score, which is used to calculate your ATAR. You generally need Satisfactory Achievement in at least four Level 3 or 4 courses to be eligible for an ATAR.
What is the difference between internal and external assessment in TCE?
Internal assessment is conducted by your school throughout the year. External assessment applies to Level 3 and Level 4 courses and is set and marked by TASC, including written exams, folios, projects, or practical performances.
